Responding to Ltr to Editor by Joe Pitts Feb 8 edition:
Joe Pitts along with George Bush (President) passed the Medicare D (Drug benefit) law. This Republican law forces Medicare recipients to buy Drug coverage or risk a penalty. See page 90 of the Medicare and You 2012 book. So when the Republicans force us to buy health care coverage it is OK. Mr. Pitts states: “Should the federal governmant be able to force individuals to buy health insurance?” Isn’t that what he did when he passed Medicare D? Maybe he doesn’t realize this because his employer (us, the tax payers) provide him drug coverage as do many employers. For those of us who are retired and do not have a previous employer we have to purchase from an insurance company drug coverage which they call a benefit by the way. How hypocritical is that?
