Thank you for writing such a great article regarding th plight of Girl Scouts and their Camps in PA. I am from Iowa and just 3 weeks ago the GSEIWI announced that they would be closing and selling the last 4 remaining Girl Scout Camps in Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois (Impacting over 30 Counties between the 2 States). This push to close the Scout Camps (boys & girls) is a National Trend motivated by Corporate America who want control of the land for a variety of reasons. Please continue with your investigating reporting. Once the land is gone it is gone FOREVER.

I am currently an 8th grade Girl Scout, and I have been to Tweedale multiple times. I live around West Grove, so I know the area. Tweedale is about 15 minutes from where I live, and probably one of the most indescribably passionate and beautiful place I have and will ever see. It is a tradition for my troop to go camping there every winter. I am working on a persuasive essay in Language Arts, and my topic is Save Camp Tweedale. I wrote a press release last year, and it was featured in a local newspaper. If this camp closes, over 75% of girls in the GSEP council will be forced to result to going to a camp outside our service unit (for example, Camp Grove Point in the GSCB council in Cecil county, Maryland) or driving approximately 3 hours round trip to the closest GSEP camp, or just forgetting summer camp all together. All the local scouts have signed petitions, wrote letters, and even talked to Council face to face, and we are still waiting for an finalized answer. We are sceduled to go until the end of the summer 2013, but we want to keep this valuable piece of GS heritage alive. We, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, who have made and shared memories on this sacred ground, can and will do everything it takes to keep our cherished camp, which is our second home, open.

We stumbled on this by accident and I am so glad we did. It is the most beautiful display of Christmas lights I have ever seen. What an awesome thing for this company to share the Christmas spirit in this way. Thank you so much.
